　夏歩さんがポートレートモデルとして活動を始めてから8年が経っていました。彼女は次の展示を、それまでの活動の集大成として位置づけていました。そこで私は、時間を軸のひとつとして撮影することにしました。

写真に写っているのは、モデルとして8年間活動してきた現在の彼女です。一方、ポーズには、写真を撮られる際に多くの人が一度は経験したことのあるピースサインを選びました。さまざまなポーズを経験してきた彼女に、あえて一般的なポーズをしてもらう。活動初期を連想させるポーズと、8年という時間を重ねた現在の姿を組み合わせることで、ポーズが想起させる時期と、現在の彼女との間に時間のずれを生じさせようと考えました。

人には、時間とともに変わっていく部分と、変わらずに残り続ける部分があるのではないかと思います。8年の歳月を経て変化した彼女と変わらぬままの側面の両方を写そうとすることで、時間を重ねるとはどういうことなのか、私自身も確認したかったのです。


Telanthera

Eight years had passed since Natsuho began working as a portrait model. She saw her upcoming exhibition as the culmination of everything she had done over those years. With that in mind, I decided to make time one of the central themes of this work.

The person in these photographs is Natsuho as she is now, after eight years of working as a model. For the pose, however, I chose the peace sign—a gesture that almost everyone has made at least once when having their picture taken. After years of experiencing countless poses as a model, I deliberately asked her to return to this simple, familiar gesture. By bringing together a pose that evokes the beginning of her journey with the person she has become over eight years, I wanted to create a subtle gap in time between what the pose recalls and who she is now.

I believe there are parts of us that change with time, and parts that remain unchanged. By photographing both the ways Natsuho had changed over those eight years and the aspects of her that had stayed the same, I wanted to consider for myself what it means to live through the passage of time.
