Equal Memories

In my twenties, I still carried a strong sense of resentment and anger stemming from experiences in my childhood and adolescence. There must also have been happy moments, but when I look back on those years, it is the painful experiences that I remember more vividly.

However, as I moved through my thirties and into my forties, those feelings gradually began to fade. I have not forgotten the events themselves. Even so, I can no longer recall the anger I once felt with the same intensity.

Just as the body changes, perhaps our emotional responses to past events also change over time. I have come to wonder whether, one day, the emotional difference between happy and painful memories may disappear altogether.
